Raisins
Raisins are a great healthy snack for children, but we have been advised that we need to be aware that they can cause potential tooth decay if given to children as a snack on their own. It is better that they are served with other things at snack time such as breadsticks or, as with other sugary snacks as part of the child's meal. The raisins when chewed tend to stick to teeth just like a toffee or sticky sweet would and therefore are likely to cause tooth decay. Within the nursery children will only be offered raisins alongside other snacks such as toast, breadsticks etc.
Rice Milk advice from the Food Standards Agency
Please be advised that the Food Standards Agency have issued regarding giving young children rice drinks as a replacement for cow's milk, breast milk or infant formula.
