Free Early Learning
Every three and four year old is entitled to a maximum of fifteen hours of FREE early learning per week, in Ofsted-registered nurseries, nursery schools, playgroups, pre-schools or with a childminders for 38 weeks of the year. Children are eligibile for funded sessions from the start of the term following the child’s third birthday.
Children can get a great deal out of structured childcare alongside the valuable time they spend with their family. The Government have made the delivery of the funded 15hrs more flexible to promote continuity for the child whilst maximising flexibility for the parent/carer. However, the following limits have been imposed:
1. No session can be longer than 10 hours
2. No session can be shorter than 2.5 hours
3. The full 15 hours can be taken over NO FEWER than THREE days. (up to 12.5 hrs over 2 days).
4. The child can be funded at a maximum of 2 childcare providers.
